Process to Performance
Molly Shanahan/Mad Shak’s signature six-day workshop for professional movers (emerging, established, and returning) and advanced university students.
Prerequisites: This year, we ask that all participants have taken recent classes or workshops with Shanahan (2022 up to the present) in professional or university settings. And we ask that any student has completed at least one year of university. Stay tuned for a Process to Performance workshop geared for newcomers.
What is this workshop? Join Molly Shanahan and members of the MS/MS ensemble for Spiral Body Techniques class from 10a-11:45a, a break for lunch, and an afternoon session of solo and group creation with Shanahan that evolves into an original choreographic work performed by all participants, with MS/MS members, in an informal showing on the final day of the workshop.
Throughout, and through the frame of a fluid movement vocabulary and approach combining embodied ease and expertise, we explore seeing and being seen through a deep immersion into self-value and -trust, challenging and reframing the dominance of an external surveilling gaze, and the power and potential of the intersubjective exchange between self and other.
If space allows, SBT class will be “open” for drop-in (see just below). Fifteen participant maximum. Please reach out with questions!
